Painting Dogs in Watercolor

Painting Dogs in Watercolor post image

After the transition from the tropics back to frozen Vermont and just in time for the holidays I experienced an artistic slump. My motivation took a plunge into the nether world!

Recognize that feeling yourself?

I have been getting back up by giving myself time for creative play and by exercising a good dose of patience.

Focusing on taking slow and imperfect action over giving in to negative emotion seems to be the key to get on track again.

All is cyclical… One brush stroke after the next, we can paint our way into high spirits!

A a pack of dogs came jumping onto my art table wagging their tails. I take it as a positive sign and a good welcome to 2018, a Chinese Year of the Dog!

On my Instagram account I shared a time-lapse video on my process of painting these pups. I share here the same video, but it shows the process of painting the black poodle at a slower pace.
