Life and Love -Acts of Persistence

Watercolor painting. Older couple love and hug. Painted by Leyla Torres.

“The art of love… is largely the art of persistence.” ~Albert Ellis
.
An insistent bronchitis has been keeping my ninety-year-old father in the hospital. On Christmas eve, when it was time for my mother and brothers to leave, he got up and offered everyone a hug. It was an unusual gesture coming from him, but very much appreciated
.
Being three thousand miles away from them I just received a couple of lovely snapshots of the moment, one of which I interpreted in watercolor. Here are my parents hugging each other.
.
The art of life is also an act of persistence. I’m grateful to my beloved parents for their persistence.
