To celebrate World Watercolor Month, I’m painting and giving away a watercolor flower every day of the month via my Instagram account.
What can you learn from painting flowers?
Painting flowers in watercolor will of course increase your skills with this luminous and transparent medium.
But perhaps you are not a gardener, and just like me, you know flowers by sight but not by name. By painting flowers you will have the opportunity to commit their names to memory.
My takeaway these days: One of the flowers I painted in watercolor is a Hyacinth. Now I can match its name to the actual flower. Yay!
On the other hand, since my father loves and has always kept geranium plants, it’s a flower I know very well by sight and by name.
